About SE Practitioners

The Somatic Experiencing training program is a comprehensive and extensive training that expands over 3 years and 8 modules after which, the individual is known as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). SE is open to any professional and is not limited to psychotherapy only.

There are many types of practitioners who integrate both awareness of the body’s role in healing and a focus on nervous system regulation as well as co-regulation into their practices.

This directory provides a way for clients and fellow professionals to connect with practitioners who do this type of work.

Tucson practitioners offer a wide variety of applications of Somatic Experiencing®.

Some work with children, adolescents, families, couples, individuals, or small groups.

While these types of approaches are particularly effective for developmental and complex trauma, they are also effective for any form of trauma, or as an adjunct to traditional therapeutic modalities.

Practitioners come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds including psychotherapists, psychologists, physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, nutritionists, movement therapists, music therapists, art therapists, massage, physical therapists, occupational therapists, coaches, teachers, lawyers, yoga therapists, acupuncturists, herbalists, transformative justice practitioners, play therapists, equine and recreational therapists.

Please note: It is common practice for students who have completed their first of three training years to apply SE to their professional practice. Some practitioners will have years of work in their own field when they start Somatic Experiencing. It is the intent of this directory that practitioners of all levels can offer services through this site.  Also that potential clients are educated about the types of practitioners and types of modalities available.
